Private Healthcare

I am a recognised provider for both BUPA and Healix private healthcare. If you have private health insurance that covers counselling, you can use it to fund your sessions with me.

You do not need a GP referral. Simply contact your insurer for pre-authorisation and then get in touch with me directly to book your first appointment.

How it works

1

Contact your insurer

Get in touch with BUPA or Healix and request pre-authorisation for counselling. You do not need a GP referral to see me.

2

Get your pre-authorisation number

Your insurer will provide you with a pre-authorisation number once your request has been approved.

3

Book your first session

Once you have your pre-authorisation, contact me directly by phone, WhatsApp, or through the contact form to arrange your initial session.

4

Attend your sessions

I bill your insurer directly at the end of your treatment, so there is nothing for you to pay or claim back.

Key information

  • No GP referral needed. You can contact your insurer directly to request pre-authorisation for counselling.
  • I bill your insurer directly. There is nothing for you to pay upfront or claim back afterwards.
  • Free initial consultation. Your first 60-minute session is free and gives us both the chance to see whether we are a good fit.
  • BACP accredited. I am a fully accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Confidentiality and your insurer

Your privacy is always protected. The content of your sessions is strictly confidential and is never shared with your insurer or your employer.

Your insurer will receive only the information they need to process your claim, such as the dates of your sessions and a general clinical category. They will not receive details of what you discuss in therapy. I follow the BACP Ethical Framework at all times.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can contact your insurer directly to request pre-authorisation for counselling with me. A GP referral is not required.

How long does pre-authorisation take?

This varies by provider, but it is usually straightforward. BUPA and Healix both have support teams who can guide you through the process. In most cases you can have your pre-authorisation number within a few days.

How many sessions will my insurer cover?

The number of sessions covered depends on your individual policy and your insurer's assessment. Your insurer will confirm this when they provide your pre-authorisation.

Do I have to pay anything?

I bill your insurer directly at the end of your treatment, so there is nothing for you to pay upfront or claim back. Some policies include an excess or co-payment, so it is worth checking your policy details with your provider.

What if my insurer is not listed here?

I currently work with BUPA and Healix. If you have a different provider, you are welcome to see me as a private client at my standard rate of £60 per session. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Will my employer know what I discuss in sessions?

No. Everything you share in your sessions is strictly confidential. Your employer will not be told any details of your therapy, even if they provide your health insurance.
